LOOK FOR ME
This was originally written for the performance art piece DEATH BLUES,
which ran at Dixon Place in New York under a grant from the Joyce
Mertz-Gilmore Foundation. .
Clip 2 / LOVE
SONG
FOR JEFFREY DAHMER
This was not actually written to be a love song TO Dahmer, but FOR him.
If Dahmer was so afraid of being left that he had to eat his lovers, I
wondered what would have happened if some big leather daddy came along
and wouldn't let HIM leave. Would he have finally felt safe? This is
the love song from the lover he should have had.
Clip 3 /
THE RAIN ON 8TH AVENUE
When I first came to New York, I lived in an SRO hotel in Times Square
for about a year. Times Square then was the Times Square in the movie
"Taxi Driver," a rough and dangerous place full of lost people hustling
their next dollar. Everyone was moving too fast to find any romance in
the squalor. Finally, I moved to New York's East Village, which was a
different kind of slum, with a different kind of desperation. Both of
those slums are gone now, fallen to Disney. But the people are still
somewhere, lost again.
